Anyone with a sense of humor can be a standup comedian. It’s exciting, creative and fun – and the skills developed in performing standup comedy are useful ones in many areas of life, from public speaking and sales pitches to dating and being a hit at parties.
In this workshop from professional comedian and instructor Nathan Hartswick, you’ll learn to “think like a comic,” using experiences and observations from your own life to create your own unique comedic voice. You’ll write and perform jokes for a supportive classroom of aspiring comics, get helpful tools to improve your material, and receive expert guidance on how to tailor your performance and get big laughs!
Students should prepare 5 minutes of standup material ahead of time. It can be rough and does not need to be memorized! Please bring a pen/pencil and a notebook. You may also wish to bring a recorder (digital recorder, iPhone, etc) to document your performance and the instructor’s feedback.
